Bill Humber (third from left in photograph) is co-principal of the Regeneration Institute for the Great Lakes (ReIGL). Here is the audio recording of his talk on the Fundamentals of Urban Regeneration given at the inaugural Renew Hamilton Learning Forum on October 18, 2013.

Bill’s talk included an overview of the education and training curriculum being developed by ReIGL for Renew Hamilton and to be used in delivering workshops for the local community.

Bill is working closely with ReIGL co-principal Dr. Gail Krantzberg (far right) on the curriculum.

Dr. Krantzberg is director of the ArcelorMittal Dofasco Centre for Engineering and Public Policy at McMaster University.

The curriculum aligns with our video case studies and includes eight units:

  1. Urban Regeneration: The Hamilton Brand
  2. Urban Regeneration as a Triple Bottom Line Initiative
  3. Collaborative Problem Solving
  4. Life Cycle Guarantors of Regeneration
  5. Building Officials Meet the Restorers
  6. Renewal and Performance Measurement
  7. Greening Urban Regeneration in Hamilton
  8. The Neighbourhood
